The St. Mary Fire Protection District #11's mission is to protect life, property, and the environment from the effects of fires, medical emergencies, and hazards. We engage the community in our mission through progressive community outreach. We will maintain a constant state of readiness to respond to all requests for services through training, maintenance of equipment, and a desire to serve our community.
The Volunteers in the community can trace its history back to 1983, when the Four Corners Volunteer Fire Department was established to cover Four Corners, Glencoe, Sorrell, and the Port of West St. Mary Area. In April of 1990 St. Mary Parish Government formed the St. Mary Parish Fire Protection District #11 Board of Commissioners, under Ordinance No. 1096 of the St. Mary Parish Council for the purpose of providing fire protection, medical assistance, and extrication rescue. The District encompasses all territory north of the Intracoastal Waterway in Ward One and Two.
